The OnePlus 12 5G leaks is once again making headlines with rumors ahead of its expected December launch. In July, we saw renders of the phone based on early prototypes that surfaced online. Now, a new leak suggests a slightly different design, though not by much. It is important to note that these new renders are based on a pre-production unit, which means there could still be some minor changes to the final design. Therefore, readers should take the latest information with a pinch of salt.
According to MySmartPrice, along with tipster OnLeaks, the OnePlus 12 5G will have three cameras inside a round camera module on the back. In previous leaks, we saw a chromed-out stainless steel plate just below the two large camera cutouts. The third camera appears to be housed in a periscope-style cutout. However, both the stainless-steel plate and the periscope-style cutout are missing in these new renders. Additionally, the Hasselblad branding on the camera module has been slightly modified – instead of full text, there is now a small “H” on the module.
The report also mentions a mysterious fourth cutout within the round camera module, but details about it are unclear. It’s unlikely that OnePlus will add another camera to the module, as most smartphone makers nowadays rely on ultra-wide or telephoto lenses for additional functionality. Having four cameras has become less common.
In the new leak, OnePlus 12 5G has also been introduced in black color variant.
Moving on to the specifications, the OnePlus 12 5G is expected to feature Qualcomm’s yet-to-be-announced Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC along with Adreno 750 GPU for better gaming and graphics performance.
A significant update is also expected in the battery department. The phone is rumored to come with a 5,000mAh battery and support 150W fast charging. OnePlus’ previous flagships supported 100W charging, and they introduced 150W charging with the OnePlus 10R in 2022. The OnePlus 12 may also include wireless charging support.
The primary focus of the OnePlus 12 5G is likely to be on the camera. It may have a 1-inch primary camera, which will replace Sony’s IMX989, which is featured on the Xiaomi 13 Pro. Additionally, there may be a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 64-megapixel telephoto lens. The 32-megapixel front camera will take care of the selfie.
Other expected features of the OnePlus 12 5G include up to 16GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, a QHD+ resolution display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and 5G support.
The phone is expected to launch in China by the end of this year and in other global markets including India early next year. This timeline aligns with OnePlus’ previous release pattern, as they launched the OnePlus 11 earlier this year. OnePlus is also preparing to launch its first foldable smartphone soon.
